Summer Reading Fun for All Age Groups

Keep kids reading this summer with "Catch the Reading Bug," Hackley Library's summer program for kids. The bug-themed reading event has something for children of all ages. "Reading Bug" runs June 16 - August 2. Families can join at any time.

In "Catch the Reading Bug" kids will send their Bug game pieces through a Plinko-style game board. The "Bugs" will bounce from spot to spot until they drop into a slot at the bottom of the board. If the "Bugs" land in a lucky slot, kids will win a fun reading incentive. In order to play, children must first have read a book.

"Reading Bug" is not just for school-age readers. Preschoolers can play a read-to-me version of the game, using books their parents share with them.

Besides the reading game, "Catch the Reading Bug" features a busy schedule of special events. Magician Joel Tacey with his "Juggle Bug Show", John Ball Zoo's Traveling Zoo, Pippin Puppets, Outdoor Storytimes and a Keep Cool program are part of the fun. See below for the full schedule. All events are free.

Selected events require registration. Groups must register to attend any event. Call us to learn about tours and story programs for summer classes and clubs.
