2020 Summer Reading program

2020 Summer Reading at Hackley Public Library is here!

This year, our program will look different for kids, teens, and adults. We’ll be using an online program called Beanstack, where participants can easily register online, track their reading progress right from home, and have the chance to win prizes! You don't need a library card to participate! All ages are welcome to participate in this free Summer Reading program.

Take and Make Craft for Kids - Craft Stick Summer Birds!

3 PM, Thursday, August 13


~ August 10 through August 13, stop in during open hours (10 AM - 2 PM) to pick up a free craft kit!

No registration needed. ~ 

Follow along online with Miss Lydia and put together a fun craft kit prepared by Hackley Library! August's Kid's craft will be Craft Stick Summer Birds! There's no need to register ahead of time for your craft kit!
During open hours, come to pick up a kit at the library sometime between Monday, August 10 through Thursday, August 13, and tune in at 3:00 pm Thursday, August 13 for a live demonstration! Follow our Facebook Page for any updates! Free to participate.

6 PM, Thursday, August 27

Follow along online with Miss Melissa and put together a fun craft kit prepared by the library. August's Teen craft will be Guitar Pick Jewelry! There's no need to register ahead of time for your craft kit!

August Chapter Book Read

3:00 PM, Daily in August

Kick back and enjoy a classic adventure tale, read to you on HPL’s Facebook page! This tale tells the story of two children who run away to live in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. While there, Claudia and Jaime discover a mystery only they can solve! We’ll be reading From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsburg daily during the month of August, at 3 pm on HPL’s Facebook page.  Free to watch and enjoy!




Facebook LIVE Story Time!

9:30 AM, Thursdays & Fridays in July on Facebook

Join Miss Lydia and Miss Melissa for an online Story Time adventure, and enjoy a few stories, songs, and movement activities. All videos will be archived on the Library's Facebook page for viewing at any time!

Online Book Discussion - The Bear

6 PM, Monday, August 10

Don’t miss Hackley Library’s next online book discussion, which will focus on the novel “The Bear” by Andrew Krivak. 
"The Bear" tells the story of a girl and her father who are the last of humankind, finding harmony with nature. This exceptional book showcases the delicate nature of humanity, the trials of loss and love, and shares the beautiful power of the natural world.

Ladybug Flower Pot - Hackley Crafts Online

6 PM, Monday, August 24

Get crafty with us and create your own Ladybug flower pot using an empty pop bottle! This cute and easy craft can be made by using some supplies you have around your house. What will you need? You'll want to have an empty 2 liter pop bottle, a marker, scissors, a stapler (glue can be used instead), and a plant. We'll provide you with some supplies too, including paint, a paintbrush, and glue!

Left to Write (Creative Writing Group) Prompts

Did you know? Hackley Public Library has a creative writing group called Left to Write! For the time being, we're bringing Left to Write to you, with prompts over Facebook. Anyone can participate by using the prompt to inspire your writing! Once the library is hosting programs inside the library, we will have a special meeting to read over what you've written at home.
