2020 Summer Reading at Hackley Public Library is here!

This year, our program will look different for kids, teens, and adults. We’ll be using an online program called Beanstack, where participants can easily register online, track their reading progress right from home, and have the chance to win prizes! You don't need a library card to participate! All ages are welcome to participate in this free Summer Reading program.

MI Library Quest - Teen program

July 1 - July 30

Starting July 1 and running through July 30, visit Hackley Public Library’s website and look for the MI Library Quest Link! Once you find it, click for more information, and then start your journey by visiting at least 23 different library websites in the state of Michigan (with the option of visiting over 80 library websites)!  Find items virtually on these library websites, and add them to your list to slay the Dragon - and maybe even win a prize!
Free to participate.




Facebook LIVE Story Time!

9:30 AM, Thursdays & Fridays in July on Facebook

Join Miss Lydia and Miss Melissa for an online Story Time adventure, and enjoy a few stories, songs, and movement activities. All videos will be archived on the Library's Facebook page for viewing at any time!

Online Book Discussion - The Gown

Tuesday, July 13 at 6 PM

Join us on a journey through history with this compelling, historical fiction book, showcasing one of the most famous wedding dresses from the twentieth century.
As we dive into the past with Jennifer Robson's novel "The Gown," we'll witness the creation of Queen Elizabeth's wedding gown, and the women who made it all possible.

Hackley Crafts Online - No Sew T-Shirt Tote Bag

6 PM, Monday, July 27

Over the next few months, Hackley Library will be posting online craft classes to our Facebook page. At 6 PM on Monday, July 27, watch for a video with guided instructions on how to make a No Sew T-Shirt Tote Bag by using an old shirt!
What will you need? A t-shirt you don’t want to wear anymore and scissors, (washable marker optional).

If you'd like to add an image to your T-shirt Tote bag, we will have a limited number of iron-on decals that participants can pick up from the Library! *Supplies are limited, and we ask that you register for the iron-on decal. Please register at the online event calendar (Click HERE). Patrons who register will be contacted with pick-up instructions.  Free.




Short Story Contest - Imagine Your Story!

Short Story Contest: Imagine Your Story!

Participate in this creative contest, and imagine your story in whatever genre you wish to write!
Stories should be 2500 words or fewer. Only one story per applicant.

Winners will receive a prize and have their story read live on the Hackley Public Library Facebook page and Youtube channel.
Free to participate! Ages 16+.

Left to Write (Creative Writing Group) Prompts 

Wednesdays at 2 PM

Did you know? Hackley Public Library has a creative writing group called Left to Write! For the time being, we're bringing Left to Write to you, with prompts over Facebook. Anyone can participate by using the prompt to inspire your writing! Once the library is hosting programs inside the library, we will have a special meeting to read over what you've written at home.
